On Friday evening, February 15th, Professor Manu Ampim will present on the topic “Dr. Woodson and the Origin of African Heritage Month“.


The evening will start in the Gallery with light refreshments at 7:00 pm. While in the gallery, enjoy light refreshments and the current art exhibit, a Satellite exhibit of The Art of Living Black.


At 8:00 pm, we will move into the FilmSpace for a multimedia lecture on the origins of African Heritage Month. Discussion to follow.


About Professor Manu Ampim
Prof. Manu Ampim is a noted professor of History and Africana Studies, and he is the Chair of the History, Anthropology, and Geography (HAG) Department at Contra Costa College in San Pablo, CA.  Ampim is the author of various books and scholarly essays, and he has conducted pioneering field research on classical African civilizations in twenty countries over the past 30 years.
